Analysis

The P229 SCT was designed as a tactical, high-capacity offering on the P229 platform, emphasizing increased ammunition capacity and modern sighting options. The addition of front cocking serrations and the accessory rail improved usability for duty or tactical applications, while the fiber optic front sight paired with the SIGLITE rear provided fast sight acquisition. Produced in limited numbers during the late 2000s to mid-2010s in 9mm and .40 S&W, it represented SIG Sauer’s attempt to offer a more modernized, high-round-count version of the compact P229 (20 rounds in 9mm and 15 rounds in .40 S&W) before shifting focus to other specialized models such as the Elite and Legion series.
