Analysis

The P229 Elite variants applied ergonomic and trigger refinements to the compact P229 platform. The addition of the beavertail, front serrations, improved checkering, and short-reset trigger enhanced control and comfort while retaining the locked-breech short-recoil operating system and DA/SA trigger with decock lever. The Nitron finish emphasized durability, the two-tone provided contrasting aesthetics, and the all-stainless version offered greater mass for recoil management. Custom wood grips were a signature feature on these models. Produced in limited numbers during the late 2000s to mid-2010s, the P229 Elite offered a refined option for users seeking improved handling on the proven compact P229 before greater emphasis was placed on the Legion series.
