Analysis

The M11 designation refers to military-issue P228 pistols. While mechanically nearly identical to the standard commercial P228, many M11 examples received enhanced corrosion protection and specific contract markings. Both the commercial P228 and military M11 were highly regarded for their reliability and compact size in 9mm. These models will typically have 'U.S.' and 'M11' stamped on the right side of the frame. Many M11s have phosphate-coated (gray/green) internal parts for better corrosion resistance in maritime environments. Used market values are higher for documented military-issue pistols with original markings, low round count, and original box/papers. Many M11s on the market today are former military surplus.
