Analysis

The P226 X-Five was developed as a dedicated competition and target pistol on the P226 platform. The heavy 5-inch bull barrel and full stainless steel construction provided increased forward mass and stability for improved accuracy and reduced muzzle flip during rapid fire. Offered in 9 mm and .40 S&W, these models incorporated competition-focused features such as fully adjustable sights and a robust build while retaining the locked-breech short-recoil operating system. Produced in limited numbers as part of SIG Sauer’s Custom Shop / Mastershop program, the X-Five represents one of the most specialized precision variants of the P226 before the introduction of the later XFIVE Legion and other modern competition models.
