The P220, P226 and P229 Nightmare Series pistols are the same design as their standard siblings, but feature a blacked-out Custom Works engraved slide and blacked-out frame with nickel-plated contrasting controls, X-Ray 3 day/night sights and Hogue Classic Contour SL G-10 grips.

Limited production from 2020 through 2021.

MSRP at production was around $1,399 – $1,599. Current used market value for examples in good to very good condition ranges $1,050 – $1,400.

Analysis

The P226 Nightmare represents SIG Sauer Custom Works’ modern tactical interpretation of the P226 platform. The fully blacked-out Nitron finish combined with contrasting nickel-plated controls created a distinctive aesthetic while maintaining the standard locked-breech short-recoil operating system and DA/SA trigger with decocker. Produced as a limited run, it offered premium G10 grips and modern sights without major mechanical changes to the proven P226 design. It was released alongside similar Nightmare variants of other P-series models as part of a themed series aimed at collectors and tactical shooters. The limited production and Custom Works status give the P226 Nightmare stronger collector value than standard P226 models.
