Analysis

The P220 Legion variants represent SIG Sauer's premium refinement of the original 1975 design, incorporating consistent upgrades across both calibers while offering the choice between DA/SA and SAO trigger systems to suit different shooter preferences. The .45 Auto versions use the standard aluminum alloy frame construction, while the 10mm versions employ a heavier stainless steel frame for better recoil management in the more powerful cartridge. These models maintain the locked-breech short-recoil operating system and continue to serve as the flagship metal-frame expression of the P220 platform. The Legion series remains in current production and stands as the primary refined option after discontinuation of most non-Legion classic P220 configurations.
