About the Gun

The 1911 Traditional Ultra is an ultra-compact single-action 1911-style pistol built on an aluminum-alloy frame with a natural stainless-steel slide that uses the classic round-top, flat-sided profile. It features a short barrel, low-profile night sights, custom rosewood grips, a skeletonized hammer and trigger, and an enhanced beavertail grip safety. Controls follow the standard 1911 layout with a manual thumb safety.

Production ran from approximately 2011 through 2018.

Market value

MSRP at production was around $1,150–$1,200. Current used market value for examples in good to very good condition ranges $750–$1,050.

Analysis

SIG developed the Traditional Ultra to extend the classic round-top slide concept into a lighter, more concealable package. The alloy frame reduced weight compared with the all-steel Traditional models while retaining the external extractor, match-oriented components, and conventional 1911 ergonomics. Offering the design in 9mm provided higher capacity in a very short overall length, positioning it as a dedicated concealed-carry option within the Traditional series.
