About the Gun

The 1911 Target is a full-size single-action 1911-style pistol with a stainless-steel frame and slide, available in Nitron or natural stainless finishes. It is fitted with adjustable target sights and custom diamondwood or rosewood grips. The front strap and mainspring housing are checkered. Controls follow the classic 1911 layout with a grip safety and manual thumb safety.

Production ran from approximately 2006 through 2012.

Market value

MSRP at production was around $1,200–$1,400. Current used market value for examples in good to very good condition ranges $800–$1,150.

Analysis

SIG introduced the Target models within the Revolution series to provide a more precision-oriented full-size option. Adjustable sights, match-grade barrel and fire-control components, and refined wood grips distinguished it from the standard duty or rail-equipped guns of the same era. The Nitron and stainless finishes offered visual and corrosion-resistance choices while retaining the external extractor and stainless construction characteristic of early SIG 1911 production. These Target variants preceded the later Super Target models and reflected the company’s early emphasis on both practical and competition-capable 1911s.
