About the Gun

The 1911 Desert is a full-size single-action 1911-style pistol with a stainless-steel frame and slide finished in Desert Tan Cerakote. It is fitted with Ergo XT polymer grips and low-profile contrast or 3-dot sights. The design follows the classic 1911 control layout with a grip safety and manual thumb safety. It uses a standard 5-inch barrel and does not feature an accessory rail in the typical configuration for this model.

Market value

MSRP at production was around $1,200–$1,400. Current used market value for examples in good to very good condition ranges $700–$1,000.

Analysis

SIG offered the Desert as a specialized finish variant within its 1911 lineup, providing a desert tan Cerakote coating as an alternative to the more common Nitron, stainless, or Scorpion Flat Dark Earth treatments. The model retained the standard full-size architecture and internal features of contemporary SIG 1911s while emphasizing a distinctive external appearance suited to users seeking a non-traditional color scheme. Production of the 1911 Desert was limited.
