About the Gun

The Rough Rider .32 H&R Magnum is a single-action revolver built on the compact frame platform shared with the rimfire Rough Rider models. It uses alloy steel for the frame, barrel, and cylinder with a black satin finish, paired with a non-ferrous alloy grip frame and two-piece checkered poly grips. The design incorporates a manual thumb safety and fixed sights, maintaining the traditional single-action operation and loading gate/ejector rod layout of the series.

Analysis

The .32 H&R Magnum chambering provides a centerfire option within the Rough Rider compact frame architecture, previously limited to rimfire calibers. The switch to a steel frame distinguishes it from the zinc alloy frames typical of rimfire variants, resulting in added weight that influences balance and recoil characteristics. It fits within the entry-level single-action revolver segment, where users often select configurations based on intended use for plinking, small game, or reduced-power centerfire practice.
