Analysis

The Thunder 9 UC (also called Mini Thunder 9 or Thunder 9 Ultra Compact) is the compact companion to the full-size Thunder 9 in Bersa’s locked-breech series. Bersa introduced it around 2000 so the model could enter the U.S. market under the 1994 magazine ban, using a reduced-capacity magazine instead of the full-size gun’s higher design capacity. It keeps the alloy-frame DA/SA locked-breech layout, external hammer, and frame-mounted decocker of the larger Thunder 9 but in a shorter package intended for carry. After the ban ended, both sizes remained available. The Thunder 9 UC is distinct from the later Thunder 9 UC Pro, which added a rail, ambi controls, and other Pro features. The Thunder 9 UC is discontinued.
