About the Gun

Full-size DA/SA locked-breech pistol with an alloy frame and an open-top steel slide. Slide-mounted ambidextrous safety/decock lever. Checkered plastic grips and a beveled magazine well. Accessory rail on the dust cover. Bruniton finish.

Analysis

Beretta introduced the M9A1 in 2006 after U.S. Marine Corps requests for a railed M9. It adds a MIL-STD-1913 dust-cover rail, heavier front- and backstrap checkering, a beveled magazine well, three-dot sights, and PVD-coated sand-resistant magazines. The M9A3 later moved to a Vertec grip. Commercial catalogs dropped the M9A1 after 2019 and brought it back in 2025. Used boxed examples with the PVD magazines sit at the top of the value range.
