Analysis

Beretta built the steel-frame 92X Performance in 2019 as a match pistol: Vertec steel frame, Brigadier slide, frame-mounted non-decocking safety, and the adjustable Xtreme-S trigger. Competitors who wanted a red dot in USPSA Carry Optics were milling slides or swapping a lightened Defensive slide onto the heavy railed Performance frame. The factory answer arrived at the 2022 USPSA Carry Optics Nationals. The Carry Optic keeps that full-weight railed steel frame and an unlightened slide, and adds a factory optic cut with Toni System plates. Sights stay a fiber-optic front with an adjustable rear. It was set up to the Carry Optics rulebook rather than IDPA’s lighter ceiling. Used examples trade on match condition and whether the plates and extra magazine are still in the box.
