Analysis

Beretta cataloged the Compact beside the full-size 92SB from 1981. Factory sheets list it as the 92SB Compact: shorter slide and barrel, a lower grip, and a 13-round magazine that still accepts the full-size tube. The lockwork is the SB package—ambidextrous slide safety, firing-pin block, and the button release at the trigger guard. Full-size SB production closed in the mid-1980s; the Compact stayed in catalogs into 1991. Used Compacts are scarcer than the full-size gun. Boxed examples with both magazines sit at the top of the value range.
