Analysis

Beretta built the thicker Brigadier slide first for a U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service request on the .40 S&W 96, then applied it to the 9 mm 92FS. The extra slide mass and removable front sight were meant to cut felt recoil and let agencies replace worn sights on high-round-count guns. Commercial 92FS Brigadier catalogs opened at the end of the 1990s as J92F700, usually with wraparound rubber grips. Blue Book closed a first U.S. window after 2005, but Beretta still lists the Bruniton Brigadier. The same slide profile later appeared on Elite, G-SD, and 92X Performance pistols. Used examples sit a step above a plain 92FS; boxed J92F700 guns with both magazines hold the top of that range.
