Compact alloy-frame DA/SA 92 with a shortened open-top slide and a slim single-stack grip. Stainless Inox slide and barrel on a matching anodized frame, slide-mounted safety/decocker, 3-dot sights, and black plastic grips.

Analysis

Beretta added an Inox Type M during the second U.S. catalog window for the single-column Compact L. Factory code J92F540 listed the stainless slide and barrel over the same narrow eight-round frame used on the Bruniton Type M. The 2003 catalog priced it a step above the black Type M. That rail-less Inox left the line with the rest of the Compact L block after 2003. Type M magazines do not interchange with Compact L magazines, so boxed pistols with both eight-round magazines bring a consistent premium over the Bruniton Type M of the same years.
