About the Gun

Long-slide single-action target pistol with an alloy frame and an open-top slide. Built on the compact 87 envelope with a longer barrel and slide. Ambidextrous frame-mounted safety with no decocker. Plastic grips, target sights, and a top Picatinny rail on the barrel sleeve. Hard-chromed barrel.

Analysis

Beretta introduced the 87 Target in 2000 as the single-action, long-slide .22 LR pistol in the Series 81 line. It uses a longer barrel and slide than the compact 87, with an aluminum barrel sleeve cut for a scope rail and adjustable target sights. Factory weight is listed around 29 ounces; later catalog copy lists about 41 ounces on the same layout. Production ran through 2013 and had a short 2017 return. Used examples with original magazines and the box sit at the top of the range.
