About the Gun

Compact double-stack rotating-barrel pistol with an alloy frame and a short steel slide. The 8357F is DA/SA: exposed hammer and ambidextrous slide-mounted safety/decock lever. Checkered black plastic grips and fixed three-dot sights. The barrel is hard-chromed. Finish is matte black Bruniton.

Analysis

Beretta cataloged the 8357 as the .357 SIG Cougar. The F gun uses the same rotating-barrel lock and slide safety/decocker as the 8000F/8040F. Italian production was a short early-2000s run. North Carolina Highway Patrol ordered 8357F pistols; some returned contract guns reached the market with department marks and night sights. Because so few were built, clean Italian-marked examples with original magazines bring more than a 9 mm or .40 S&W F Cougar.
