About the Gun

Compact double-stack rotating-barrel pistol with an alloy frame and a short steel slide. The Mini keeps the 8040F’s DA/SA lockwork, exposed hammer, and ambidextrous slide-mounted safety/decock lever, but the grip frame is shortened. Checkered plastic grips and fixed three-dot sights. The barrel is hard-chromed. Finish is matte black Bruniton.

Analysis

Beretta added the Mini Cougar in the late 1990s as a short-grip .40 S&W F gun. Slide and rotating barrel stay in the 8040 pattern; the frame is chopped for a smaller hand and a shorter butt. Italian Mini production ended in the early 2000s with the rest of the early Cougar line. Used Minis are less common than full-size 8040F pistols and usually sell a little higher when boxed with the original short magazines.
