Analysis

The Model 73 was introduced in 1958 with the 70 series as the long-barrel target gun on a taller frame. Both sights sit on the barrel, so the slide is cut for them. The Model 74 is the same gun with an adjustable rear sight. The Model 75 is the long-barrel-only gun on the shorter 71 frame, with an 8-round magazine. Early production has a crossbolt safety. Around 1970 the series changed to a frame-mounted lever, and some later guns have a button magazine release. The line ended in 1985. The barrel-mounted sights and the taller frame separate the 73 from a 71 or 72 fitted with a long barrel. Magazines and the plastic panels are the usual missing pieces.
