About the Gun

Tiny double-action/single-action blowback pocket pistol with an alloy frame, a steel slide, and Beretta’s lever-released tip-up barrel. An exposed hammer, a left-side frame safety, and a magazine release set into the left grip follow the Bobcat layout. Grips are checkered plastic or walnut. Finishes on the current rows include matte black, Inox stainless slide over a gray-anodized frame, nickel, FDE, and later two-tone Covert colors. Standard barrels are short; Covert variants use a longer factory-threaded barrel. Sights are a small fixed blade and a slide-notch, or slightly taller sights on the threaded guns.

Production began in 2000 and is currently ongoing.

MSRP is around $649. Current used market value for examples in good to very good condition ranges $350–$450.

Analysis

Beretta introduced the 21A at Beretta USA in 1984 as the catalog name for the double-action tip-up that replaced the Model 20. .22 LR was the main chambering; .25 Auto ran on the same frame into the early 2010s. Inox stainless-slide guns arrived in 2000. Nickel and engraved EL walnut pistols left the line around that year. Regular production paused in 2013 and returned later in the decade. Covert threaded barrels and walnut-grip black guns appeared in 2020, with FDE in the same wave and the Kale Slushy, Ghost Buster, and Silver-Black Gorilla colors in 2023. The 20X Bobcat is the later X-series replacement and does not retire every 21A SKU at once. The black 21 Bobcat and 21 Bobcat Inox rows are separate models. Used standard .22 LR guns are common; Covert and named colors are newer and hold more of list. .25 Auto examples are fewer.
