Analysis

The 1915/19 replaced the 1915/17 in the same cartridge. The barrel mount changed from a round post to a T-slot, and the two openings in the slide became one long cut from the front sight to the breech. That cut is the Beretta slide from then on. Civilian guns were on sale by 1921. The army adopted it in 1922, which is why military examples are marked or cataloged as Model 1922. Italian navy and road-militia purchases were small. Most of the run was commercial. The 1934 and 1935 took the service role in the next decade. A plain gun with the 1915-1919 slide legend is this model. The .25 Auto pocket pistol that also carries a 1919 name is a separate model. Magazines and the wood panels are the usual missing pieces.
