About the Gun

The Armscor-RIA 1911 GI Standard is a full-size, single-action 1911-style pistol built on a Series 70 pattern. Frame and slide are 4140 steel. It has GI-style combat sights, a conventional spur hammer, and smooth wood or walnut grips. Finishes include parkerized and polished nickel. It is a heavy, single-stack Government-size service pistol.

Analysis

Rock Island Armory’s GI Standard is Armscor’s basic Series 70 1911, sold in the United States since the mid-1990s. The .38 Super full-size guns follow the same 4140 steel, GI-sight pattern as the .45 models. Parkerized and nickel finishes were cataloged from 1996. The GI line remains a current RIA product; street prices for new parkerized guns are typically in the mid-$300s to low $400s.
