About the Gun

The Armscor-RIA 1911-A1 Medallion Standard is a full-size, single-action 1911-style pistol with a match barrel and a hand-fitted slide and frame. It has Novak-style sights and checkered walnut grips. Frame finishes include blued, two-tone, and chrome. It is a heavy, upgraded Government-size 1911 rather than a GI-sight service gun.

Analysis

Armscor sold the Medallion as a fitted, match-barrel 1911 above the plain 1911-A1 Standard. The Standard variation used Novak sights and wood grips; a Tactical Medallion sat beside it. Production ran from 2002 through 2008 in the Philippines under the Rock Island Armory name. Later RIA match and TAC guns replaced this catalog slot.
