About the Gun

The Arminius HW 7 is a medium-frame, double-action/single-action revolver with a solid frame and a swing-out cylinder. It has a long barrel, fixed blade-and-notch sights, a blued finish, and plastic grips. Early guns released the cylinder with the ejector rod; later guns use a thumb latch. It is an eight-shot rimfire sporting revolver rather than a snub.

Production

Production ran from the 1960s through the 1970s.

Market value

MSRP at production was around $250. Current used market value for examples in good to very good condition ranges $150–$225.

Analysis

The HW 7 is the long-barrel member of Weihrauch’s small Arminius trio (HW 3, HW 5, HW 7). Herter’s imported it as the Guide Model; F.I.E. later used other trade names. The factory also listed .22 WMR and .32 S&W Long and a Duo two-cylinder set. Hermann Weihrauch still catalogs the HW 7. U.S. used guns are mostly 1960s–1980s eight-shot .22 LR imports.
