About the Gun

The Arminius HW 5 is a compact, double-action/single-action revolver with a solid frame and a swing-out cylinder. It has a mid-length barrel, fixed blade-and-notch sights, a blued finish, and plastic grips. Early guns used a cylinder-pin release; later guns use a frame-mounted thumb latch. Cylinder capacity is eight rounds in .22 LR and seven in .32 S&W Long.

Analysis

Weihrauch added the HW 5 in 1965 as a longer-barrel companion to the HW 3. The .32 S&W Long gun uses a seven-shot cylinder on the same compact frame. L.A. Distributors sold U.S. examples as the Omega. The recent thumb-latch pattern remains in German catalogs; early cylinder-pin guns are discontinued.
