About the Gun

The Arminius HW 22 is a compact, double-action/single-action revolver with a solid steel frame and a swing-out cylinder. It is an eight-shot rimfire snub-nose with a short barrel, fixed blade-and-notch sights, a blued finish, and black plastic grips. It is a small, light wheelgun rather than a full-size service revolver.

Analysis

Hermann Weihrauch of Mellrichstadt, Germany, introduced the Arminius cartridge revolvers in 1960 after rebuilding as an airgun maker. The HW 22 is the short-barrel, eight-shot .22 LR member of that line. U.S. guns arrived under several importers; F.I.E. and later European American Armory handled later Weihrauch revolvers. Hermann Weihrauch Revolver GmbH still lists the HW 22 in current catalogs. American used examples are inexpensive surplus-era imports rather than a current U.S. catalog item.
