About the Gun

The Arcus 98DAC is the compact DA/SA version of the 98DA. It retains the steel Hi-Power-derived frame, exposed hammer, squared trigger guard, and three-dot sights, but uses a shorter slide and a slightly reduced height. Finish is blued or duo-tone, with wrapped rubber, plastic, or walnut grips. It feeds from a standard-length 13-round magazine rather than the 15-round magazine of the full-size 98DA.

Production ran from 2002 through 2015.

Market value

MSRP at production was around $450. Current used market value for examples in good to very good condition ranges $225–$420.

Analysis

The 98DAC is the short-slide, shorter-grip companion to the 1998 98DA, built for the same Bulgarian service and export program but with a more compact envelope. It keeps the DA/SA trigger and firing-pin safety of the full-size gun and uses 13-round Hi-Power-length magazines. Century Arms brought it into the United States alongside the 98DA, with limited importation from 2002 through 2015. The model was marketed as an inexpensive all-steel compact duty pistol. Used prices now track the full-size 98DA closely, with boxed or two-tone examples at the upper end of a fairly thin resale market.
