About the Gun

The FXH-45 is a Government-size 1911-style single-action pistol with a polymer frame reinforced by metal inserts, molded finger-groove grips, a dust-cover accessory rail, and a lightened steel slide. It uses Glock-pattern sights with a fiber-optic front, an ambidextrous thumb safety, a beavertail grip safety, and a skeletonized trigger, and it feeds from standard single-stack 1911 magazines.

Production ran from 2016 through 2021.

Market value

MSRP at production was around $600. Current used market value for examples in good to very good condition ranges $320–$450.

Analysis

American Tactical introduced the FXH-45 in late 2015 as its first U.S.-made 1911, shifting the Firepower Xtreme line away from the all-steel Philippine FX pistols. The hybrid frame—polymer with two 7075 aluminum inserts at the rails and fire-control points—was patented in 2016 and was meant to cut weight on a full-size .45 Auto Government gun while keeping 1911 lockwork and magazine compatibility. A Glock-pattern sight cut and a removable optic plate were part of that first package. The Commander FXH-45C and the 9 mm FXH-9 followed on the same frame family. Regular catalog life of this Government .45 Auto model ran through 2021, after which American Tactical continued the hybrid idea under the later Moxie name. Used examples are common inexpensive polymer 1911s and do not carry collector premium.
