Analysis

Accu-Tek introduced the XL-9SS around 1999 as a stainless update of the short-lived BL-9, keeping the same compact double-action-only layout while adding three-dot sights and all-stainless construction. The change came as Excel Industries was taking over Accu-Tek, and the model left production by 2003. It had little presence beside later Accu-Tek stainless pocket pistols. Surviving examples are scarce; published owner comments are few and usually mention a heavy feel for the size, sharp recoil, and the same feeding and extraction complaints attached to other Accu-Tek 9 mm compacts. Factory support ended when Excel closed in 2023.
