About the Gun

The AREX Alpha is a full-size, all-steel, hammer-fired DA/SA competition pistol. It has a factory-tuned trigger, oversized ambidextrous manual safeties, a flared magazine well, aggressive front-strap checkering, and an extended magazine release. Sights are a fiber-optic front and a fully adjustable black rear. Wraparound polymer grip panels were offered in several colors. The dust cover carries an integral accessory rail. It is a heavy, double-column race pistol rather than a carry piece.

Production began in 2018 and is currently ongoing.

Market value

MSRP is around $1,099. Current used market value for examples in good to very good condition ranges $700–$900.

Analysis

Arex of Slovenia, developed the Alpha as the competition follow-on to the 2016 Zero 1. It was shown to the press in 2017 and imported by FIME Group in 2018. The pistol keeps the Zero 1’s modified Browning linkless, hammer-fired system but places it in a milled steel frame with a reduced-weight slide, a match trigger, and 17-round magazines. The intent was a ready-to-shoot USPSA/IPSC Production gun priced below established steel race pistols. Later corporate ownership under RSBC linked Arex with Steyr, and Steyr’s 2025 ATc/ATd pistols are rebranded Alpha-family guns. U.S. import later moved from FIME to Global Ordnance.
